The long-awaited Korea-Japan Singer King Battle (日韓歌王戰) has come to start. Since it was the first country Trot competition in broadcasting history, it was bound to attract public attention. As a result,  the vast stage of the Korea-Japan Singer King Battle was filled with indescribable tension between the two countries' representatives who were eager to win. Additionally, there was a strange war of nerves between the two teams that surpassed that of baseball, soccer, or Korea-Japan matches.

Korea-Japan Singer King Battle got off to a good start by recording an all-time viewership rating of 11.9% for the first broadcast for the first time in MBN broadcasting history. Now, shall we introduce the glorious faces that will represent the two countries?

Proceeding Way

Korean-Japanese Singer King Battle will be played with a total of 3 rounds and 2 wins. In other words, the team that fights three times and wins two first wins. And today is the preliminaries for the main competition. Today is a process to closely explore the capabilities of both countries before a full-scale confrontation . It's called Self-Exploration Battle. 

 

 

As in the Active Singer King preliminaries, a self-evaluation method is applied without the Master's intervention. However, since it is a national competition, Japanese singers are evaluated by Korean singers, and Korean singers are evaluated by Japanese singers.

Each of the seven members can give the other singer as many points as they want, from 0 to 100 points. However, it's questionable how cool both teams will be able to score points against their rivals.

In the preliminary round, the person with the most points will receive K-beauty and K-health products as a prize.

And for the MVP of Korean-Japan Singer King Battle, they will produce a new song so that they can work in the other country.

The Korean team shouted, “Oh, Pilseung Korea”, and the Japanese team shouted, “Japan!” and held a passionate cheering match with strong hopes for victory in this match that they could not back down from.

 And, Ma I-jin , who is ranked 2nd in the Active Singer King with a voice as cool as cider, performed the first stage of the self-exploration battle.

 

 

Ma I-jin, who suppressed Japan with an artistic kick like a Taekwondo expert, called out Jinsung's 'At Andong Station' to show that "this is the true K-trot".

The Japanese team showed courtesy by giving a fairly high score of 660 points. It seemed to start off on a good, but the key was whether it would be good until the end. 

 

 

The youngest member of the Japanese team, national sister Sumida Aiko, took over the baton. Sumida Aiko chose 愛染橋 by Yamaguchi Momoe's, which sings about a woman hesitating about her marriage. This song, which was also chose for the Trot Girls Japan semifinals, is said to be a song that Sumida Aiko can sing perfectly, as it received 198 out of 200 points at the time. What the Japanese Masters said was true. Sumida Aiko's song had such a unique tone that everyone gasped in exclamation from the first verse. The delicate facial expressions immersed in the song left the listener unable to help but hold their breath. Even the sobbing falsetto was so charming. Even though I didn't know the lyrics, I could still feel the sad and nostalgic emotions while listening to the song.  

 

 

How many points will our team give her? The result was 628 points! Unlike the Japanese team, our team was calm. This was the moment when a strange current was formed.

Kanou Miyu asked Maria, who was the next participant, a sharp question, asking why an American would play against Japan in Korea. Maria was momentarily embarrassed, and the Korean team older sisters who were watching were angry, saying, "Can't you do that?"

 

 

It seemed like it was Kanou Miyu's sharp provocation in response to our score given to Sumida Aiko.

The most interesting thing is to watch the fight, and Korean and Japanese masters were also enjoying the war of nerves. And it was so much fun that I couldn't take my eyes off it.

 

 

Maria's answer that even though she is a foreigner, she can be a strong weapon for Korea was the key. Her older sisters said that Maria was Korea's secret weapon , and they did make a fuss about her. This atmosphere has become unusual. And the masters behind the stage had even more fun,  saying that the real Korea-Japan battle begins now.

And, eventually, it exploded. 568 points to Maria, who captured the serious expressions and emotions in Baeho's 'Who's Crying', and 563 points to Kanou Miyu, who excitedly sang the punk rock song 'Over Drive' by the popular 90s Japanese band JUDY AND MARY! lol... 

 

 

A fierce fight was going on. They try to comfort the victims of the nervous war who can't control their facial expressions, but the situation has already gotten out of control. The Korean and Japanese masters stood up, clapped, and loved it.

Kim Da-hyun's Tta Reu Reung, who continued to overcome the limits of his cuteness, Azuma Aki's Okuhida Mojeong, who showed off the proper J-演歌 without any doubt, and Jeon Yu-jin's of the Korean winner, Love is the flower of life, Japanese winner Fukuda Mirai's My Song, and the Winter Sonata's OST of Utagokoro Rie, who showed off his true master's skills for 30 years, entertained our ears. 

 

 

In particular, Okuhida Mojeong, a song about Ryu Tetsuya 's longing for his hometown, sung by Azuma Aki, was truly shocking. Even though he was only 16 years old, it was an all-time great song that showed dozens of years of experience. It was a moment when I understood why the Korean team chose Azuma Aki as a strong target . Maria's breaking skill felt like a toddler's level compared to Azuma Aki's.
