Sing Again 3 (싱어게인3) Episode 10, Semi-final, SO SOOBIN became No.1, Shin Hae Sol's best song ever

The eight contestants who failed to advance to the Top 10 last week must compete in a repechage match to secure the remaining two spots. And for the top 10 contestants, a 'dream naming ceremony' will be held where they will no longer be unknown singers but will become famous singers. For the first time in Sing Again's history, in front of a large audience of fans.

You only have one hour to practice the repechage match! The losers must one hour to create the best weapon to show off their full abilities. And they can't singing a complete song, only the verse 1! This stage may be our last for them. 

 

 

 

Repechage match

Who wouldn't be desperate? All participants in the Repechage Match recited every word of the lyrics with sincerity. All of their performances were very sad, including No.1, who sang a song of desperation beyond earnestness, No.8 and No.12, who showed their true worth on the Resurrection of the Losers stage, and No.60, who eventually burst into tears out of desperation. 

 

 

No.59 chose Wild Chrysanthemum's 'Oh She is a Beautiful Woman' , a ballad song rather than the bright and powerful sound of rock music that has been shown so far . The judges couldn't help but be shocked by his complete transformation.

And, No.68 selected Yang Hee-eun's 'The Most Beautiful Words of My Life' while thinking of their mother. With her unique voice, she calmly spits out her lyrics as if she were speaking and calmly completes her song.

The judges were deeply troubled again by the excellent skills of the participants, who shone despite their desperation and nervousness.

 

 

And, in the end, the remaining two spots in the Top 10 will be occupied by  No. 59 and No. 68.

 

Naming ceremony

This is the moment the participants have been waiting for. Finally, a naming ceremony is held where one's name rather than number is revealed. Now they are no longer unknown singers. Now, the moment they become a famous singer!

All participants took off their number tags from their chests. And the Top 10 participants proudly announced their names in front of a large audience with their own precious songs, not with other people's songs. I was instantly moved to tears!!

 

 

Now they are not No.16, 25, 27, 40, 46, 49, 58, 59, 66, 68. Their names are singer Ho-rim , singer Kang Seong-hee , singer Lim Ji-soo , singer Chae Bo- hoon, singer Shin Hae-sol , singer SO SOOBIN , singer Hong I-sak , singer Chu Seung- yeop, singer EJel , and singer LeeJean.

Semifinal

The semifinals decide the Top 6. It is a 1 vs 1 competition where each participant directly nominates an opponent. Throughout all rounds, the five players with the highest number of Agains will have the right to nominate their opponents in order. Through the competition, the five winners will advance to the finals, and the losers will have to compete in a repechage match for the remaining spot.

 

 

And in the event of a tie, the judges must decide whether to send either or both to the repackage round. At least one must go to the consolation match.

 

EJel vs Horim

This is the first competition. EJel chose Horim, the strongest player in soul music. She wanted to create an unexpected combination because her color was so different from her.

 

 

Horim

The first player is Horim. When Horim's unconventional song selection was revealed, the judges and audience could not help but be surprised. This is because the song he prepared to show off his diverse colors was ‘Hype Boy’ by the popular girl group New Jeans . I was very curious and excited to see what style it would be interpreted in. They complete their own stage perfectly with colors and rhythms that are 180 degrees different from the original song.

The judges praised it, saying, "The art and technology scores were perfect, all songs regardless of genre, and it was such a groovy stage as it shines the most when it was with the rhythm".

 

EJel

EJel said that she always relied on calm folk music because she thought her favorite genre was folk music. She tried various genres to make a strong impression because every performance was precious to her while challenging Sing Again. She achieved good results, but received negative reviews from the judges that her song was not impactful.

 

 

Accordingly, while preparing for the semifinals, she had no choice but to think deeply about what she could confidently present as her own music . The song that whould show her most confident performance like Main-dish was Lee Hi's 'Nobody'.

The judges praised her saying, "It was the best performance you've ever had. I really want to see your performance in the final. You are one of the few competitors who can confidently pull off all genres". So, how was the competition between the two singers?

 

 

EJel wins an overwhelming 7-1 victory with the evaluation that "She shows different sides on each stage and everything is already perfectly prepared".

 

Shin Hae-sol vs. LeeJean

It's like a Youth World Cup match between 19-year-olds and 18-year-olds. However, when it comes to skills, you are by no means a youth. It's a battle between the Witch of the West and the Witch of the East, and they are also strong contenders for the championship.

 

 

LeeJean

LeeJean selected Sharp’s ‘After the Play is over’. She arranged this song in the city pop genre with the sound of her band. RiJin's voice breaking through the sound of her band was enough to overwhelm the judges and the audience.

The judges said, "I had no choice but to be fascinated. I was worried that the tone and style would not match the band, but LiJin's charming voice was conveyed through all the instruments".

 

Shin Hae-sol

In fact, it is said that she began to doubt her skills by barely surviving the third and fourth rounds of tie-breaking matches. Meanwhile, she learned various opinions of netizens about the bright and energetic stage after the broadcast, and as a result, she felt scared, wanted to hide, and was quite hurt.

 

 

She chose  Hyun Jin-young's hip-hop jazz song 'Scream' to focus on communication, regardless of her feelings about victory or confidence. It presents a perfect stage that everyone can't help but recognize, like a fish in water. As soon as the song ended, the judges and audience cheered loudly. Even the Code Kunst judge couldn't control his emotions and ended up saying a cute swear word that couldn't be broadcast.

It received the highest praise from the judges, saying, ‘It changed my favorite stage, it was the best stage, it was a more shocking stage than the preliminaries, it was a surprising and amazing stage’.

 

 

The judges, who had to choose between Li Jin's stage, which showed artistic completeness, and Shin Hae-sol's stage, which showed technological completeness, were in serious trouble. Eventually, the judges begged for more time from MC Lee Seung-ki, but the cheeky MC Lee Seung-ki declared that he would give him only 30 seconds.

 

 

In the end, an unexpected result of 4 vs 4 was created. When this happens, the judges must decide whether to advance one contestant to the final round, or drop them all and demote them both to the repechage round. What on earth will be the result!

 

 

The losers who were unfortunately eliminated in the Top 10 match announce their names and leave the Sing Again stage. The eliminated candidates who had worked hard so far said their final goodbyes and asked that they be remembered. They name was No.1 Lee Bada, No.8 Kim Doo-han, No.47 Tejong, No.56 Son Ye-ji, No.60 Kim Soo- young, and No.12 Lim Yun- seong.

As we saw in this semifinal, a competition is unfolding in which no one can predict who will advance to the final round.

 

Horim, who was a strong candidate for the championship, went straight to the repechage round, and Shin Hae-sol and Ri Jin are also tied on points, so they may both go to the repechage round.
